reflections

i took this picture while driving on the golden gate bridge the other day. i love it not only because you can see one tower of the bridge in front of me, but in the reflection of the gas truck you can see the other tower. kind of cool, i thought.

if only my ability to photograph with the iphone while driving were a bit better, the picture could be really cool.

#1 baby gift idea

If you are in need of fabulously chic gifts for babies, be it other people's babies or your own, run - do not walk - to The Initial Impression.

The site has the cutest personalized bibs, onesies, diaper covers, and burp cloth couture - bet you didn't know burp cloths could be this cute!

They just did gift sets for the Quaid twins - little Thomas Boone and Zoe Grace were the recipients of the brown polka-dots with apple green embroidery for boy and hot pink for girl. Absolutely adorable!

I am a repeat customer, and my favorite gift to give is the single-candle cupcake diaper cover - perfect for first birthday parties!

tunes that make me happy

I am completely obsessed with Cease to Begin, the latest album – or sophomore effort, if I want to sound like a music critic – by Band of Horses. I just love, love, love it. I haven’t loved anything as much since Matt Nathanson’s Some Mad Hope album was released last August. And wow, I still really love that one too.

On a different note, while I’m sitting here at work listening to Band Of Horses set to repeat on my iPhone, my head feels like it’s in a vice. Major headache. Today marks day 7 of me giving up caffeine. It wasn’t really intentional, me giving up caffeine. Not a New Year’s resolution or anything. Basically on the morning of New Years Day I decided to have hot tea instead of coffee. Probably because I had a cold, and I normally opt for tea when I’m under the weather – I secretly hope that the antioxidants in tea will speed my healing. And probably also because our all-in-one latte/cappuccino/espresso maker decided to quit making crema coffee that morning, as well.

So I opted for tea, and I’ve continued to “opt” for tea since, although the headaches have gotten more aggressive as I reach this one week mark. And the afternoons without my Diet Coke or Diet Dr. Pepper have made it increasingly difficult to get through the days at work. My motivation is at an all-time low, but hopefully my body is better for it. Because that would totally make up for me hating my working-life 45 hours a week, right?

My body better freaking thank me, somehow.

a new year's feast

as per usual when i haven't posted in a while, i find that i really want to post but can't find much to post about. thus i've stolen the feast.

Appetizer
When was the last time you received a surprise in the mail, and what was it?

the last surprise i got in the mail was a luggage tag from my friend catherine. it had a little note on it about joining her on the journey to her wedding, and asking me to be a part of it. a great sussy in the mail! (my family calls surprises sussies)

Soup
If you could have a summer and/or winter home, where would you want it to be?

summer home: lake tahoe, ca or dana point, ca (i heart california)

winter home: cape town, south africa

Salad
Pick one: pineapple, orange, banana, apple, cherry.

i want a smoothie with all of them!

Main Course
Describe the nicest piece of clothing that you own.

does "nicest" = most expensive? if so, my wedding gown (yowzers on that price tag! thank you, dad!). next in line, two $500 dresses i just scored in NY for $75 each!

Dessert
If you could forget one whole day from your life, which day would you choose to wipe from your memory?

the noble thing to say is that everyday is a blessing. and since i've made it through every single one, whatever happened has made me who i am.
the more truthful thing to say is it's amazing how i already manage to block out some really horrible ones.
